How to Repair a Faucet
- The first thing that you should do is to close the shutoff valve; usually located below the sink.
- Open the faucet so that all remaining water in the pipes can be drained down.
- Loosen the screw at the handle's base so that you can remove the faucet.
- Put a tape around the plier to prevent nay left markings on the faucet being repaired. This is also to make sure that no evident marks will be causing any malformation in the faucet
- Remove the inner parts and observed what causes the leak. Most of the time it is the washer, seal and O rings that is responsible for the water to leak in the faucet.
- Replace all worn-out and damaged inner parts.
- 1.If you find sediments on the inner parts of the faucet, remove them and inspect the other parts if they are still good for use. Any signs of crack, worn-outs, and damage is an indication for replacement.
- Prepare smear packing grease and apply to all parts before putting them back in its proper place.
- After replacement of parts have been done, you can install the faucet once again, putting the parts in the right order.
- Once installed and leak still persists, total faucet replacement might be the solution.
